Today we hang our hats in honor of our Conductor, or as others like to call him, ‘The Captain’. 

Our poised and infallible host Lon Wall passed away yesterday. He was 69. 

Born August 28, 1951, Lon developed his tireless work ethic early in life. Whether healthy or otherwise, Lon never liked to sit still, working up to his last day. 

His story is one of true heroics, a tale of nine lives and unbreakable fortitude. Lon had survived years of significant health issues with nothing but grace, gratefulness and sheer stubbornness. 

Lon was one of the last great outlaws, never conforming, always himself, strong in his convictions and quiet in his peace with God. More than just a man, Lon was a truth seeker, a light of positivity, a calm kindness and a true friend. He was a daily example of how to live in your faith, yet not be boastful in your own way of thinking.

For those who did not know, Lon is Dennis’s Step Father, Amanda’s Father-in-Law, and Kitt’s grandfather. An extraordinary man whose life was a fascinating adventure, Lon will be greatly missed,  and forever celebrated.

Father figure. Loving grandfather.  Chaser of trains. Corvair savior. Our restaurant’s figurehead. Fountain for deep, unforgettable wisdom.

Lon’s signature Conductor outfit and boundless optimism has to come to embody all that we hold dear here at the Bistro, and will carry on as our symbols of perseverance.

You will forever be our Captain & Conductor.

Viewing, Burial, and Celebration of Life for Lon Wall

Lon Wall’s Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, 12pm at Attrell’s Chapel in Newberg with Burial Services to follow at 2 pm at Noble Cemetery. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 6th, 1pm here at the Garibaldi Portside Bistro.  To RSVP for the Celebration of Life please email: lon@portsidebistro.com
